The Salt Route is a 1km long trail, which in a pleasant area offers true relaxation. It starts from the western shore of Lake Ursu, at a latitude of 514m and reaches 525m, where we can see in a sinkhole what's left of the Serpilor Lake (Serpent lake)
This once-salty lake in the 1930s was the second largest lake after Lake Ursu. Today it is just a marsh, after the ponor at the bottom of the lake has plunged and the lake has drained. In the valley of the brook that starts from this lake was formed Mierlei Lake, the next objective of the trip. And this lake appeared in a sinkhole formed by the dissolution of salt rock from underground. On wooden stairs made in 2015 we can go down to the lake.
The surplus of water in this lake flows into the Sarata Valley. We arrive in an area full of streams, muddy puddles and salt formations. Due to the high concentration, salt crystallizes everywhere. On sunny, dry days everything is white here.
In the summer the puddles are full of people, and the banks of black people, gnawing with beneficial mud.
We walk down the wooden sidewalks and get to the show offered by the smaller or bigger waterfalls of the stream. We will soon be on the southwest side of the lake. And here the wooden construction allows us to get right on the shore of the lake.
We start on, we go for a few minutes and get to Lake Ursu, because in an airline only 60m are between the two lakes. At the end of the route there is a playground for children, where the little ones after the tour will have fun
