Map of Ighişu Nou: Ighiş lake
Lake Ighiș was built in 1978 by the barrier of the Ighiș River, 2 km upstream of the confluence with the river Târnava Mare. It has the role of supplying and mitigating floods. The dam of local materials has a height of 36 m and the length of the canopy reaches 475 m. The surface of the 184 ha lake is visited by migratory birds, even swans have appeared. The shores of the lake are populated by fishermen.
