Map of Ocna Şugatag: Nepomuk Chapel

St. John Nepomuk is a protector of rivers, bridges, marshlands, marshals, fishermen, but in many places he is the patron saint of drowners, miners, and minerals in salt mines. Thus, in the salt mines or in the miners' localities the chapels were dedicated to it, statues were raised. Here in Ocna Șugatag it was even called a mine after the saint. The chapel was built right at the mouth of the Gábor mine. The author of the statue is unknown. The sculptor worked fine at the lace of clothing. The statue is original, not restored.
