Map of Ortita: Wooden church

The Orțîța locality is certified since 1391 and is broud with a wooden church built in 1828. After another opinion the church is older, it was built in other place and it was brought and rebuilt here in 1858. Because it is not specified this information is not verified.
Over the years many modifications were made. In 1900 the high tower was distroyed by a storm and the Christians rebuilt it, but they made it shorter. With the occasion of the restoration works in 2007-09 the tower was made after the original form.
In 2007 the shingle roof was rebuilt and changed with an iron one in 1966. The interior painting was kept very well but the painter and the date of acomplishment is unknown. In the pronave a less common scene can be seen, the one with laziness, plague and death.
Initially in the church's tower were 3 bells, the two big ones were taken to the new church which was built in 1989 and the small one according to local belief was bringing or was sending away the rain by lowering or raising it in fountain. Now it is in the wooden church tower.
