Map of Ulciug: Wooden church
The wooden church from Ulciug was built in 1781 on an old church's place, certified since 1760-1762. It has a rectangular plan with polygonal apse with five sides. From the shingle roof the tower with tarret is rising, a spire and 4 small towers.
It seems that the porch from the west side was built latter on.
The decoration frame of the entrance door is decorated with rope's motif and the cross. The window frames are carved, the most being a floral frame with blossomed tulips. Church's interior is painted. His name is unknown but in The Doomsday's images he is cast into hell as well, together with the sinners. In the nave the biblical scenes are framed in floral decorations and on the iconostasis in the row of apostles, The Saviour appears as well.
The picture is beautifully preserved thanks to the villagers who knew how to keep the remained sanctuary from the ancestors.
