The first church in Abod was built outside the village. The stone church was built in 1745 on the site of the current church. Due to the increase in the number of parishioners, the ship was demolished, in its place, next to the old tower, a larger one was built in 1897. Over time, the tower sank and tilted, detaching itself from the ship. Although an expert opinion from 1939 considered him not to be in danger, in 1941 the demolition order was issued.
After the Second World War, when the necessary money was raised, in the summer of 1947 the tower was demolished. The bells first arrived in a bell tower built after some in 1952, after others only after the revolution. The pulpit crown dates from 1872, and the organ was built in 1930 by Boda József from Toplița-Ciuc. The model of the old church is displayed in the church. In addition, Biró Mátyás made a whole collection of models, exhibited in 2009 at the Museum of Naive Art in Kecskemét, along with several sculptures.
They stayed there because the locals did not appreciate the real value of the works.
