Dumbrava Harghitei swamp, located at approx. 400m from the Festo Spring in the Tolvajos Valley, it covers 1.5 hectares. Discovered by the geologist Bányai János (1886-1971), the swamp became a botanical reservation in 1980. The impermeable volcanic rock and the cool and humid climate are the right environment for the formation of the swamp which provides habitat for many rare plants, some of which are only found in northern Europe. The special insects and butterflies here also attract professionals. The mineral waters that feed the swamp once fed a 4x7m bath, used according to the elders, by the Saxons from Transylvania, but today it is in ruins. Grazing and mowing are prohibited activities in the swamp, but no one monitors whether the animals that graze in the area also reach the swamp area, endangering the fragile balance of the ecosystem.
