Map of Firtănuş
City Firtănuș (Firtosmartonos) is attested in 1473 under the name Martonos. Firtos prefix it received in 1906. The land beneath the village is unstable. North of the village are visible traces of a Roman camp. Here was born the famous Gálffy Mihály, executed on March 10, 1854 in Târgu-Mureș for participating in the Makk conspiracy. Gálffy Mihály statue stands in front of the Unitarian Church.
