The construction of the little chapel on the Tyúkász hill is attributed to an alleged Armenian pilgrim Esztegár János, who in 1886 decided to build it. The required amount of money gathered from door to door, after which he convinced the priest in the locality to help him with the official steps. When, in the summer of 1887, the bishop of Transylvania approved the plan, the chapel was built in 1888.
The interior decoration was made with the help of the Lazare grof, Lázár Eszter, established in Sovata. Along the road to the chapel, 14 crosses symbolized the Way of the Cross. The chapel was restored in 1983.
