Carved gates were widespread in all areas inhabited by Hungarians, but fell prey to the wave of modernism in the late nineteenth century, remaining only in Szeklerland. For this reason the gates were called Szekler and became one of the symbols of the Szekler land. Decorated differently, the gates are unique.
