The village of Criș is attested in 1305 and its history is related to the Bethlen family, who became the owner of the village since 1367. The last members of the family stayed here until the beginning of the 20th century, leaving the locality between the two world wars. In mid-fifteenth century Mark, the son of Miklos began building the castle. The polyglot and writer Bethlen Elek (1643-1696) even brings a print shop in Criș to print books about Transylvania, including the History of Transylvania written by Bethlen Farkas. Elek first wrote a book about the Bethlen family. The largest building in the locality is the castle, its renovation is difficult.
