In the Dniester Valley there have been mines of non-ferrous metals since ancient times. Once the inhabitants of the small town were miners. Regardless of whose property the mines owned, they ensured decent living for miners. . . until 2004. Then the last gallery was closed. Activity traces are everywhere emphasizing the character's mining village. In the past the town was placed above where Catholics built a chapel in memory of the old church in 1761. Greek Catholic, now Orthodox was built in 1936 and the Catholic in 1930. Near the village, in the woods, is Nistru Lake.
