The Romanian Church in Măgherăuș was built by Greek Catholics probably between 1818-1830. Initially the church did not have a tower, it was built only in 1830. Before this construction there was a wooden church located northeast beyond the old cemetery.
That church was destroyed by a fire, out of which only two large icons, which were deposited in the current church bridge, escaped. The interior and exterior painting was made in 1885, the current one was made on the occasion of the major renovations of the church, between 1961-1968. In 1998, the year when the church was covered, the church was renovated and one of the icons in the attic and now is on the altar table. Following a process, the church is now used alternately, a week of Greek Catholics, a week of Orthodox, as well as in the church in Tăuți.
