Map of Carei: Synagogue

The Jewish came in Carei in 1720 and 1740 at the Count Károlyi Sándor's call. They settled in Jewish passage area and in 1940 their community had 3000 persons. The Synagogue kept up until now was built in 1866, modified in 1890. The interior with three naves was made carefully and with finesse. The entrance is on the central part of the front entrance. Above the entrance and one triple vaulted window there is a beautiful rosette, and above the two shaped stones can be seen, representing the tables of the Tenth commands. In front of the synagogue there is the holocaust's monument.
