The oldest document in which it is written about Tășnad is since 1289. In XV century it was the most populated locality around the area. The most important landlords of the locality comes from The Becskys, who controlled the locality almost 300 years. The Becskys influenced the religious division of the locality. The population decreased during the Rákóczi independence war, for their completion Romanians and Swabians were brought.
