Map of Vişta
Viștea is one of the oldest villages in Țara Călata. In Paleoslavonic the name means belvedere, because in the past the locality was situated on the hill's top with belvedere over the area. The inhabitants were farmers and raised animals. In 1870's at the Cluj-Oradea railway's construction together with Italian masons worked men from Viștea who learned the craft. In a short time they become well known as their women were in pearls plaiting
