Map of Cheud: Benedictine Monastery

Ruins of Cheud's Benedictine monastery are placed on a small wooded plateau inaccessible now. Height of remaining walls show us old building's impresive dimensions. Bunyitay Vince wrote in 1887 in his book that tower's foundation was visible.
He writes about a decorated capital with maple leaves which completely disappeared. A few hundred meters above the monastery was the stronghold. Benesat locality is vis-a-vis of monastery ruins, is monks' property as its name indicates.
According to data estimated by Bunyitay the church nave had dimensions of 13x7m and walls made of natural, carved stone had thickness of 1.10 m.
