Vatu Moțiți, with a mountain relief (altitude between 660 and 1275 m), was documented at the beginning of the 17th century as the Secatura. The commune of 12 villages is crossed by the Arieș river, 7 km long and has a closely related history to the history of the golden region that is lost in the darkness of the times. Only the mounds of washed mounds, old galleries for mining remain, which prove that the locality was still inhabited during the Dacians until now. In 1964 Secătură commune changed its name in Vadu Moților.
