Map of Căbeşti: Stramturii valey

Strâmturii valley can be reached from Căbești, which is located at 14 km from Beiuș. We follow the brook, pass the last houses, some cultivation and all of a sudden we find ourselves at the beginning of the gorge, from where advancing with car becomes difficult, at high water even impossible.
On the trace one might have the impression that here some when existed drive way, but seeing the picturesque area, you quickly reach the conclusion that it is much better that the trip can be made only on foot and the decaying bridges remind us of a long faded era only.
After narrows sectors there are some wide flats, where the brook meanders. In freshet conditions the waters reach perilous levels while in drought periods they perish in the permeable layer and looks like an arid vale. The portion of narrows from the upstream part is more rugged. Being a karst area, it reveals many surprises: caves, even abysses, narrows and wild affluents. Let`s take care of this region protected by the tracks of the irresponsible excursionists.
