The church in Valea de Jos was built in 1738, instead of another older church, attested by a book printed at the end of the 17th century. The year of construction is mentioned on the door frame to the nave, decorated with floral motifs. Over time, the church has undergone many transformations. The tower gallery was abandoned and the shingle roof was replaced on the board.
Outside, the building is surrounded by the rope motif, a pattern that appears, besides the geometric motifs, and on the framing of the entrance door. Only the iconostasis can be kept in the interior. The paintings are attributed to one of the most outstanding painters of the eighteenth century, David Zugravu, from Curtea de Argeș. He is the author and an icon, made in 1751.
