Map of Bologa: The Fortress of Bologa
The fortress of Bologa appears for the first time in documents in 1319 and it has been built to be the supervisor point of the way that goes from Oradea to Transylvania. After all the probabilities it was built in the XIII century as royal fortress. The Hungarian king, Sigismund de Louxemburg after signing the alliance treaty against the Turks in 1399 gave the fortresses of Bran and Bologa to the Romanian Country's prince.
The fortress gave harbor to the habitans of the zone in danger time for a long time. In the XVII century when Oradea is occupied by the Turks it gains a bigger importance because it made the crook's and rate collector's life harder.
Therefore the Sultan gave orders for the demolition the fortress. Order what wasn't executed. Finally the fortress was destroyed by the lobont's through explosion. It doesn't remain anything but a corner of the protection wall with the tower what may be seen today as well.
