Huedin dates since 1332, in the middle ages had no fortress, in case of danger the people ran to the church that had an exit through a tunnel or took refuge in the fortress Bologa. In 1552 appears Bánffyhunyad, 2/3 of the settlement was of the Bánffy family. Huedin was publican settlement fact proved by the numbers of the coins found on the town's territory: 1000 coins from 1480-1598 at the Old Fortress and 3187 pieces from the period 1488-1633 discovered with the occasion excavations made in the center. Huedin is the capital of the Kalotaszeg region what through it's folkloric value attracts the tourists.
