Feldioara was highly exposed to history. The castle is mentioned for the first time in 1240 having the name Feldioara was the site of a prisoner of war camp during World War II. Around 350 Hungarian prisoners have died here. A memorial stands on the place that used to be a massgrave. There is also another memorial, a reminder of the 39 Saxons from Brasov, who died in battle in 1612. The mercenaries of the citizens revolting against monarch Báthori Gábor having fled, the monarchical army killed the majority of the defenseless students. The cemetery of Soviet soldiers is also in Feldioara.
