Map of Retezat mountains: Lolaia waterfall

Located in the northern part of the Retezat Lolaia Falls is one of the most beautiful sites in Retezat. It is accessible from the Ohaba-Pietrele route - by car to Cârnic - marked with blue band.
The Lolaia Falls are at 1050 m altitude, in the Nucsoara valley, which collected the streams of the brooks: Pietrele, Valea Rea, Stânișoara and Galeșu. Access to the cascade was arranged with stairs and wooden railings.The height of the waterfall is around 13-15 m. At the top, a rock divides the water into two arms, joining only at the bottom, in the cauldron dug by the force of the waterfall.
The high level difference creates a very wild dream world, especially on the Pietrele brook, giving rise to a multitude of small waterfalls culminating in the Lolaia Falls.
