Lake Gura Gura Water or Water located in the western part of the Retezat Mountains resulted from barării Big River, downstream of the confluence of the rivers Lăpușnicul Great Lăpușnicul Small and SES. Construction began in 1975, and the underground station was completed in 1986.
Dam is a curiosity in height of 168 m, it ranks among the highest dams of local materials in Europe. The lake has a length of 8.5 km and slick measuring 411 hectares at a volume of 210 million cubic meters, storage capacity. The lake is an integral part of Great River Retezat hydropower complex which has downstream of the dam nine plants and three dams, Ostrovul Small Paclisa and Hațeg.
