Map of Retezat mountains: Lake between trees

Tăul dintre Brazi (between trees) is the only lake in Retezat that is not glacier. It is reached after a 45-minute walk in a beautiful area. The path is marked with a red point, a branch of the red triangle path. Tăul dintre Brazi has a special charm.
Surrounded by spruce and juniper woods, the shallow and clear water, of the bottom with black sludge, gives the place a wild impression. The lake, located at an altitude of 1710m, in the Galeș valley, as a bright mirror reflects the sky and surrounding nature. The mirroring of the trees in the water is perfect, and there is a tree truncated in the water, but the silence is full, wrapping the lake in an inexplicable mystery, giving rise to many legends.
