In the XVI and XVII century pottery was a flourishing industry in Curtea de Arges. The craftsmen founded the first guilt and built their own church in the most populated neighborhood. Since the overwhelming majority of the craftsmen came from Moldova, their church is built bears features of that style. It was erected on the place of a monastery built in 1300. The first records date back to 1687.
Olari church is one of the few churches in which death is represented. The painting is located on the eastern wall. Unfourtunatelly the paintings inside the church are blackened and destroyed. The paintings on the outside walls have been covered in mortar since recently. There is a roofed outside starecase at the frontside of the church which leads to the bell. The slope of the shingle roof protects the frontside of the church, where the paintings are located.
