Chieșd locality certified since 1461 was formed through the unification of its two parts: Romanian Chieșd and the Hungarian one. The landlords from the area were The Sarmaságis and The Keménys. Once it had a stronghold but its tracks can not be seen. It had two mansions and only one of them survived. The wooden church was built in 1796.
