The first documentary attestation of Eremitu is from 1567. In 1602 it already had a large population, but halved by the plague epidemic of 1719. In the center of the town is the millennial monument erected in 1896 in memory of the millennial status of Hungary.
On the occasion of the renovation, in 1996, the white marble coat of arms of Hungary and a plaque with the words "We have been here for 1100 years" were placed on the monument. City where we can admire beautiful Szekler gates, may be considered "holy land" because, along with neighboring towns, did not allow current spread reformed and remained throughout Roman Catholic.
