The Catholic believers in Buia under the influence of the reformed stream became Lutherans along with their church. The Catholics first built a chapel in 1858, and then in 1884 the present church. The chapel was built by Miske Imre, a reformed Catholic. The Catholic Church of the 1920s was abolished several times, and finally it was nationalized in 1848. After more than 50 years, the building has come back to the rightful owners.
