Map of Turulung: Perenyi castle

History Turulung castle awakens the interest of many historians. It is supposed that this place was a fortress built in the first half of the 16th century and destroyed in 1661, at the time of the Tartars invasion. From that time on, it was probably the cellar or part of it.
There is also a fountain in the enormous cellar below the building. About the tunnels, and especially their directions, many legends were born. Perényi family raised in this place a building with thick walls and one floor, surrounded by moat in 1717, the Tour introduced water. The building was bought by Count Hesseistein family that built the floor and hallway.
Initially, the hall floor was open, then it was built. Spiral stairs survived, and a cabinet built one of the halls. Thickness of the walls is visible at the door frame. Since 1934 there has been a school in the building. The beautiful Perenyi Castle, renovated now, is the pride of the locality.
