Ghenci is one of the localities from Ier Valley where the trails of once large swamp remained. The locality situates at only 7 km from Carei. The name binds by The Gencsys family's name, who owned the locality in XV century. They were followed by many more families. It is a different locality from the ones nearby which were the property of The Károlyis, and were populated by Swabians. In Ghenci the landlords were changed and it was avoided by Swabians. In 1913 it was a big locality.
