Map of Baciu
The locality's history begins in 1090 when appears as Szentiván. In XIII century when it was destroyed by Tartars incursion its inhabitants withdraw in a Nadășului valley's swampy area and later they founded here Baciu locality (baci in Paleoslavonic origin is swamp). Old people tell that Turks thrown the church's bell into the lake and they, being kids, threw stones in the lake and the bell sound could be heard.
