The imposing building of Boys Civil School, surrounded by a high wall, situated in middle of a park on a hill in Cehu Silvaniei locality centre was built in 1901 by Hungarian Estate. In 1924 -1945 hosted The School of Arts and Crafts, a general school, high school.
In 1962 high school moved in a new building, in old building remained the elementary school amoung which Hungarian teaching also. Since 1968 was boarding school and now is headquarters of Scolar Group "Gheorghe Pop of Băsești". The lawyer Gheorghe Pop of Băsești (1835-1919) represented for 9 years in parliament from Budapesta the Romanian bourgeoisie interests. Between 1892 - 1894 he was one of the militants of the romanian autonomy movements from Ardeal and claim of their rights.
