Sarasau town on the left bank of the Tisa is attested from 1345. In 1720 lived here 15 noble families. Bank and Girhes family members participated in the revolt led by Gheorghe Doja. Here was born Joseph Man, prefect in 1848 and later became chief of Maramures Committees.
