Șinteu locality appears first time in the diplomas since 1458. At end of middle ages was probably a village inhabited by Romanians but disappeared and the area was repopulated by Slovaks, Bánffy landlords.
Since then locality is predominantly Slovak. Houses spread on hills among the orchards and pastures are createing a unique view. In locality there is a school in Slovakian. Catholic Church built at the begining of XIX Century. Another attraction of the locality is american bison farm.
