The Alesd Catholic Church was built in 1914, following the plans of architect Siegel Albin and the financial support of grof Bethlen Aladár. It has a rectangular surface, a single ship and a 37-meter-high tower. Above the entrance there are the coats of the Bethlen and Batthányi families.
The painting of the main altar was made by the Széchenyi Jenő grove and the Csík Béla sculptor in Budapest. The organ was built in the middle of the 19th century; the name of the craftsman is unknown. The statue of Piety in the church garden was made by sculptor Csányi Katalin in Budapest.
The Catholic Church in Alesd was the center of the Catholic diaspora in the area, now it has become the center of Slovak Catholicism, so the believers are of Hungarian and Slovak nationality.
