The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Timișoara was established in 1850. It functioned until 1949 when it was suspended by the Communist govern. Set up on the basis of an imperial order, it was ruled by the presidents chosen among the elite citizens of Timișoara. It had several seats before the construction of the palace from the center of the town. It stood out in the development of the industry, of the export commerce and of the specialists from the town's industry. It appeared on basis of a necessity of co-coordinating the industrial and agricultural activities that witnessed a fast development in this period. The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Timișoara was the first territorial Chamber of Commerce that weighed anchor in the first months of 1990.
