Map of Salonta: Park statues

Reformed Church in the city center is surrounded by a large statue park. The statues of Bocskai István, Kossuth Lajos, Arany János, as well as personalities from Salonta are placed.
Bocskai István, the prince of Transylvania, is the founder of Salonta, because in 1606-ban he sent the 300 free soldiers here. The oldest statue, that of Kossuth Lajos, was made by Tóth András.
The statue unveiled in 1901 had a tumultuous history as the borders moved, when left, when to the right, and the statue when it was on the base, when it was demolished or painted. Eventually the situation has calmed down and today it boasts the oldest statue about Kossuth.
The statue of the poet Arany János was unveiled at the 175th anniversary of his birth. Here, on the left of the poet, there is the bust of Kiss István, the sculptor of the statue, and several of the city's personalities. The bust of the sculptor was commissioned by his sister Kiss Jolán.
