Map of Hoghiz: Villa Haller

The Haller manor or Villa Haller, as it was seen on a view from 1906, in the opinion of the historians, was built in the 16th century. The present size was reached in the 19th century. It is unknown who built it, but it is known that by 1650 the locality was owned by the Sükösd family, in 1667 it was received by Nagy Tamás, whose nephew Nagy Borbála de Borsa married Bethlen Sámuelh in January 1684. From their marriage were born 7 children, the fourth Katalin, later known as Árva Bethlen Kata. After her birth, Mother Borbala marries Haller István IV. hence the estate Bethlen becomes Haller.
After the death of Bethlen Kata there is some quiet over the land, in the ginealogy tree there is no birth or death, until Haller János, born in 1852, prefect of Mureș-Turda and Trei Scaune counties. He finances the renovation and enlargement of the mansion, and moves with the whole family in Hoghiz. He died in 1928 and is buried in Hoghiz, the last Haller in the locality. Meanwhile, a school was set up in a villa, and in a newspaper in 1873 there was an order signed by Gutenau Károly about the elevation of the school. In the old villa today is a school, and in the neighboring building, probably the former house of the servants was arranged a kindergarten. After 1989 the heirs got back the building and sold it to the city hall.
