The Steingasser tower, also known as the Pawed Road Tower, was built between 1507-1534. The tower has two storeys and it's 25.8 meters high, it had been the square men and brick-masons that had to maintain it. In 1705 the kuruc hoards damaged it. During the 1745 restoration Stephan de Hannenheim, one of the towns senators, wrote on a piece of paper and placed inside the tower the following text: "The faithless Rákóci hoards showed their lack of humanity to this god-fearing town, to their citizens, fortification and bastions, but the tower revived, just like a Phoenix bird is revives from her ashes." After the reconstruction the towers defensive affinity decreased. The baroque impact can be seen on the framework and the angle change of the ceiling. The classical loophole shapes had been changed to inverse keyhole shapes. The entrance can be found on the eastern side of the tower.
