Map of Cluj-Napoca: The Botanical Garden
The garden placed on the southern part of the city was founded by the academic Alexandru Borza in 1920. On a surface of 14 hectares there are living more then 10 000 plants the most beautiful species of all the continents. The garden is crossed by the Gipsy stream.
Here was installed the Botanical Museum what includes 6 900 items but here is the herbarium of the university as well what includes over 635 000 plants. The six glasshouses assure adequate conditions to the topical and sub-tropical plants that are living there.
The Roman Garden known better under the name of Garden of Piliniu is dominated by the statue of Ceres deity. Here were taken those two coffins that turned out during excavates made on the territory of the Roman town Napoca.
In this horticulture are living such plants that decorated the settlements of Roman times.
