Map of Jibou: Wesselényi Crypt
Wesselényi's crypt was built in first half of XVIII century. In the tunnel systems behind the iron door we can find 12 closed cavities with funerary boards. The last member of the family who was buried here was Wesselényi István, 1851. As a consequence of the anti-feudal opinion current after 100 years later the crypt was robbed and distroyed, the tombstones token away are in the foundations of several existing houses. The last two tombstones are in the reformed church. They are projects but the renovation of the Wesselényi's crypt is not to be finished... hopping not for long!
