Map of Sibiu: August von Spiess Hunter Museum

The museum was opened in 1966 and in 1981 it was moved to colonel Spiess's villa. Spiess was one of the hunters from the kings' court. The base of the museum is Spiess's gun, local and exotic trophies, traps and a collection of pictures. The collection of guns shadows the development of the hunting rifle and you can also read about the stock of game from these parts. The exhibited trophies won many awards also from it own, but also from different countries. The collection now holds more than 1550 pieces, many are over 100 years old.
The largest part of the collection that is displayed of the collection comes from three collectors: first is August von Spiesse(1841-1923), the second collector Emil Witting(1741-1787) and the third one is the Transylvanian Scientific Associations collection.
