Map of Arad: The Transylvania Hotel

This hotel built after the plans of Franz Mahler in 1840 may be admired near the theatre. On place of this building there already has been an inn in the XVIII century where was the stagecoach-station of Arad as well. Till 1868 the coaches coming from the Mures vale stopped in front of the building.
Meanwhile the Arad-Gyulafehervar railway was showed over. In the main-hall of the hotel gave concert Liszt Ferencz, Johann Strauss jr., Johannes Brahms and Pablo Casals cellist as well. By the time were quests of the hotel: Ferenc József, George Coșbuc, I.L.Caragiale, Octavian Goga, George Enescu, Jules Massenet, Francois Copee, Ady Endre and Arany János as well. Currently the big hall is completely changed and houses a restaurant.
