Map of Baia Sprie: Sztancsek house

Sztancsek family that received in 1616 from Bethlen, Prince of Transylvania title Turia noble estate in the eighteenth century was gold and silver mine in Baia Sprie. The house was built by Sztancsek László around 1790. This mining past refers to the bas-relief on the frontispiece of the house.
L-shaped mansion, conducted in late baroque style has 6 rooms and a porch with Doric columns. In the big yard and outbuildings were that today belong to another host cadastral parcels and carpentry workshops. Once through a large gate was reached the courtyard. The rooms from the street are vaulted, as are the three cellars. The building remained until 1905 owned by the Sztancsek family. When Kornelia, niece of the owner, the black sheep of the family has accumulated huge debts. To pay the debt they sold the house and moved to Seini.
The house was purchased by the Savings Bank was nationalized and luckily was moved Hospital. Thus the building was kept in good condition. Later it became the headquarters of Tax Administration. Now it's the archive. The family's descendants because of the war left the country.
