In a place as hidden from the world, in a recess, as if it were the crater of a volcano, an interesting lake stretches, which arouses the interest of both researchers and tourists.
The reason for the curiosity is the changing color of the lake, from intense green to blue, hence the name comes from the Blue Lake.
Formed between 1919-1920, after the mining of some works, and collecting water from precipitation and small springs, the lake is almost circular, with a radius of 40-45 m and a depth of 4 m. Iron and copper particles washed from the surrounding rock, giving rise to melanterite and calcantite, gives the lake these color changes.
It is a wild, untouched, encouraging unfortunately in some cases human negligence. Not to forget, the Blue Lake, located just 3 km from the city of Baia Sprie is a hydro-geological type reservation.
