Before the second W.W. lived a considerable Jewish community what had five churches and more then 10 houses of prayers. Till today they remained only about 400. The memory-church of the Deported Persons was built after the plans of Hegner Izidor. The church that was addicted in 1887 was devastated at 13 September 1927 by the iron-guardsmen. Then it was rebuilt with state help. In 1944 after the deportation of those who had been gathered in lagers the synagogue had seriously damaged after hard explosions. It was repaired in 1951 by the Romanian Jewish congregation. Actually it's the only synagogue what still functions in Cluj.
