Baia Mare accepted Protestantism in 1547, following the activity of the preacher Kopácsi István and soon the three Catholic churches went to reform. When the Catholic church strengthens again, the Reforms are forced to build a church beyond the city walls.
After two wooden churches, the current church was built between 1792-1809. The 50 m slim tower was erected in 1836, and housed cast bells in 1814, 1815 and 1847. Three bells were relocated in World War I, the 21 quintal bell was cast in 1892 in Budapest, and the 1150 kg in 2010. After the main entrance two secondary entrances lead to the balcony. The interior of the spacecraft is covered by a very wide vault. Underneath the balcony is a painted chair for priests made in 1786, preserved from the 18th century wooden church.
The organ built in 1828 by Master Andreas Eitel was refurbished and enlarged in 1891. Sándor Országh Lord's table was made in 1873. The roof and wooden elements were mistruite flames in 1869 after a lightning. The restoration has led to the current appearance. Its tower with the dome of the ball and the red flag, made of copper became the tower of Saint Stephen the second symbol of the city.
